Sunday 26 May 2013

I was making a card yesterday and wanted to get the butterflies all lined up vertically. It was a challenge. However this is where Stampin Up!'s grid paper comes into its own.

I found the middle of the card and after squaring it up, I drew a pencil line down the centre of my page.
I was then able to position my Stamp-a-ma-jig with the sentiment image directly in the middle of card, where I wanted it.
When I photographed this I didn't realise the 'Hello" would be so noticeable, oops. I have since found out that the Stamp-a-ma-jig has 2 sides a rough and a smooth, which I did know, what I didn't know was that the rough was for Craft or pigment inks and the smooth for die inks! Now to get the Stazon stamp cleaner out and rub hard!

Then I continued stamping the butterflies one on top of the other. Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig lets you place the image exactly where you want it.
This is my finished card. I added a punched Elegant Butterfly image and some Dimensionals to finish the card. These are very simple cards and they are going as Thank Yous to my customers.

SWAPS received at Regional Training Telford

The first is a beautiful notebook covered in Tea for Two DSP by Pat Stubbs

This next beautiful case for lip balm is by Sharon Gronow
Sharon has used Calypso Coral and the Tea for Two DSP, and the Fancy Flower punch at each end and in the middle creating a window, the Modern Label punch. Then to finish it off, she has punched some DSP using Boho Blossoms Punch and the jewellery tag stamped with friends. Will have to search out the little butterfly.

Monday 13 May 2013

I shall share with you some more swaps later but in the meantime yesterday I spent the day at Denbies Wine Estate at the Gift and Craft Fair. It is a good day out, there are trails to follow around the vineyard, some tasting, eating and of course some buying at the craft fair!

Stampin Up! Regional

This weekend was very busy. I drove to our regional Stampin Up event in Telford with a SU colleague.  On Friday night we met up with 24 other members of the Stampin Stars. Our leader Natalie O'Shea had made us all a star, so we could recognise each other. What a fab idea! We celebrated another Stars birthday with a lovely evening meal.
 Happy Birthday Kim!

The next morning after a lovely breakfast, (always so more relaxed when not in your own home setting) we headed to the venue where the Regional was being held.
There was around 300 odd Stampin Up! demonstrators gathered together, mostly women!
We had a frantic half hour after registration swapping.
I had made 88 swaps as a tag, so after I had swapped I had just about the same number back. I was very impressed with the diversity and complexity of the swaps. People had made a great effort.

Stampin Up! did a great job on the Regional Training. We had some fabulous demonstrations about new product and we were given some exciting news for the UK market, but mums the word, you'll have to wait!
We had a Make and Take which I will show you here.
This is a notebook and the cover is Basic Grey that has been scored to form a grid, then stamped with Clockworks and decorated with a flower using the Fancy Flower Punch and the Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons.
The second project was a box made from Two Tags Bigz die and decorated again with Clockworks stamp set and the Fancy Flower punch and small In Colour dahlia button. It holds 5 mini cards and envelopes.

This and That  Stampin Up!'s answer to SMASH books!

It is like scrapbooking on the go.
The kit has some lovely papers, some stickers, washi tape and the book to stick/glue it all in.
So a lovely notebook that you can add stuff to. Paste photos, add stickers and write down your random thoughts.
Women are hoarders...we keep the first movie ticket from our first date, the shells collected on the beach with our first boyfriend, the first card our daughter/son gave us for Mothers Day...
These items should ideally be kept in an old fashioned scrapbook. But who does?  not me...they are in a vanity case my mother gave me for my 14th birthday, and thats seen much better days. Then they went into the bottom drawer next to my bed.
My Friend who is into Feng Shui, says I need decluttering! I have so much 'Stuff', and she's right. But I don't want to get rid of it... its holding me back.
Hence the Scrapbook idea. I haven't time for that, but I can start to weed through my stuff and Cut and Paste, which is so therapeutic.

My daughter is going to get a This and That book for her birthday, and so are all her friends. Girls need a notebook to glue all their bits and bobs in. I like the fact you get pretty tape to stamp over, stickers that say what you want to say. Then you can stamp around and use all the different papers, oh my...I'm going to be busy!

However this kit is not only for Smashers or Scrapbookers, it is for card makers and paper crafters as well.
It's Mothers Day in Australia on Sunday and as usual I didn't post in time, apart from the fact I don't know where my Mum is, somewhere in Hervey Bay... so I am going to phone and direct her to this page as her card is here!

Another play around resulted in this card. I ran a 10km race on Bank Holiday Monday and was really pleased with my result, so this is for me. It will get into the This and That book when I am ready to start!

So for all those Amazing People our there, this ones for you!
I think I may just get the hang of this soon!

Wednesday 1 May 2013

Your life is Fabulous. Quirky. Exciting. Perfectly messy. And happening really fast!

We’re happy to introduce our newest product line that lets you capture it all on-the-go.
This and That will debut in the 2013-2014 annual catalogue, but we’re giving you  the chance to get it now.

This and That is the new journalling product from Stampin Up

Ways to use This and That
  • Having lunch with the girls, stash the bill or wine label right there and have each friend write about her favourite part of the day
  • Just been to the gym, write down your times and distance on the treadmill or if you dare the calories burned!
  • Going to the pictures with friends. Washi tape your ticket to the page with perhaps a flyer about the movie. Record your thoughts on it.
  • This and That is great when you use all the products together, but each is great on its own too.  The Designer Series Paper is lovely for scrapbookers or card makers.
  • The Rotary stamp will come into its own. All the embellishments are fun to use.
