Birthday

It was my birthday last week and I want to share a couple of cards I received.
This beautiful card was made by Linda Kendrick.  She has masked En Francais and then stamped on top with Field Flowers, a 2-step stamping set.  The Happy Birthday has been typed and then punched out using the Modern Label Punch.  A little punched butterfly completes the picture.

Lesleys card is a bendy card in slate gray and the flowers Petite Petals and matching punch are from the new Celebrate the Everyday Catalogue.  I love the colours she has used.  It is so like a balcony with cascading flowers!  The leaves are Little Leaves Sizzlits.

On another note, I had a Tim Holtz moment and was looking at his blog and what he got up to at CHA, the big trade fair in the States recently.   I hadn't done any sort of grungy, mixed media stuff lately, as I had been caught up with Stampin' Up! and their 'nice' way of crafting, it was about time to get my hands dirty.  I took as inspiration and CASE, a canvas done by Debi Adams.

And...you know what, all the items I used were Stampin' Up!  I was surprised SU has come out of its  'nice' image and embraced the modern world of mixed media and grunge.
I have used the Music sheet from Modern Medley DSP, Stamp sets Gorgeous Grunge, Happy Day; the cork flowers and shapes from SAB, Gold Cardstock for the shapes -  butterfly punch, chevron punch and arrow(thin let), I used White Staz-On for the sentiment and the white small circles are made from the end of a pen dipped into the white Staz-On; Coastal Cabana was swiped over the board and the splotches were inked in Baked Brown sugar; the burlap and gold twine from the new catalogue and topped it off with a bit of Retro Washi tape and a button.  It was all adhered to with Tombow Multi-Purpose glue onto Coaster Board ( thinner than chipboard but sturdier than card stock!), which I scored so it sits on its own.  What do you think?  I would love to know.  Please leave a comment.
This is Debi's original image below.  A great case of CASE - Copy and Share Everything!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

I hope you have a loved one who will spoil you today. However if we were really truthful we would like to be spoiled everyday and not just one day in the year!
so I am going to spoil you with a selection of Valentine cards...

This is created with the Scallop Envelope die and the sentiment is from the stamp set Word Play.  I cheated with Sent with Love as it is computer generated.
I have embossed these punched hearts with the Perfect Polka Dots, Adorning Accents and Petals a Plenty. The ribbon is the new Striped Organdy ribbon in Melon Mambo from the new Spring/Summer Catalogue
Small punched hearts using paper from More Amore DSP in a noughts and crosses design and the sentiment is Teeny Tiny Sentiments

En Francais stamped in Crumb Cake and LOVE cut out from the Natural Composition Specialty Paper using the Typeset Alphabet dies, then a small heart and rhinestone embellishment.

Lastly some punched hearts pleated to look like
balloons with the sentiment from Delightful Dozen.

The Countdown is starting!

I Love this set from SAB. I have Midnight Muse on the left hand card and the paper , once again from Print Poetry, it is a beautiful paisley design. The second card has the stamp En Francais as a background, it is a CASE from Kerstin in Germany, she does it so much better. Well maybe not better, just more fussy!
The set is called Feeling Sentimental and it is available to you FREE from 22 January, when you spend £45 on Stampin Up! product

I have a couple of friends getting married in the next few weeks. So I thought I would do some Wedding Cards using the Love and Laughter stamp set. I did some dry embossing with the hearts from the Adorning Accents Embossing Folders.
I love the depth of the Cherry Cobbler on the first two cards, on the other I used Night of Navy. I was playing around with the placemnet of the words, think I like the position on the navy card best.
I had the Love and Laughter stamp set as a clear mount and as such placed all the stamps I was using on the mount together. Well not all, as I eyeballed the placing of the flowers on top of the cake!

and just to show you I wasn't totally doing the same thing, although I do like the simplicity of the above, here are a couple more, one with a lot of glimmer! The turquoise card has silver embossing and the other gold embossing with En Francais in the background.
